Printed circuit board (PCB) is a base plate for assembling electronic parts. It is a printed board which forms point to point connection and printed components on the general base material according to the predetermined design. According to different classification methods, PCB can be divided into different types. According to the number of layers, PCB can be divided into SSB, DSB and MLB; according to the flexibility, PCB can be divided into RPC, FPC and FPC.
In recent years, due to the adjustment of industrial structure in developed regions in Europe and America and the capital advantage in Asia, the global PCB production has gradually transferred from Europe and America to Asia, especially the mainland of China. Since the end of 1990s, China's PCB production has been developing rapidly, and it has become the fastest growing area in the world.
In 2017, there were more than 1300 PCB enterprises in Chinese mainland (which had declined). The market showed a highly competitive format, and the scale of enterprises was small. According to the statistics of 2018-2023 in-depth investigation and investment forecast analysis report of PCB professional market released by xinsijie Industrial Research Center, in 2017, China's PCB output was 26.977 billion US dollars, accounting for more than 50% of the global total output.

PCB occupation has the same big cycle with the global economy. In the past two years, due to the global economy and the downturn in computer sales, PCB industry has been in a low position. Since the first half of 2016, the global economy has returned to the upward track of prosperity, the semiconductor cycle has risen, and the PCB industry has recovered significantly. At the same time, the price of copper foil and fiberglass cloth, as the primary cost of the industry, is still declining after experiencing the sharp drop in the past year, which ushers in a larger bargaining space for PCB enterprises. And the large-scale investment of 4G in China has become a catalyst for driving the career boom beyond expectations.
With the large PCB manufacturers all over the world investing to build factories in China, the skill level of domestic PCB is improving day by day, but the production skill of high-end PCB is still far away from Europe, America and Japan. At present, most of the primary raw materials required for PCB production can be produced in China, but some production equipment with high automation, precision and reliability requirements, such as electroplating production line, laser drilling machine, etc., are mainly imported from abroad. In the future, research and development of high-end PCB production skills will become a new focus for domestic PCB manufacturers.
New thinking industry researchers believe that PCB skills are closely related to the skills development trend of mainstream products of low-class occupation, but now electronic products are updating very fast, the skill content is getting higher and higher, and the quality requirements are getting more and more strict. For example, mobile phone consumers expect mobile phones to be more and more thin. Therefore, the skill requirements of inferior customers for PCB products are also gradually improved. PCB manufacturers need to constantly update the production process and production skills to meet the demand of inferior customers for the continuous improvement of product skills.
